چکیده

A spectrophotometer system for spectral characterization of materials in the infrared has been built around a bench-top Fourier transform instrument. Its capabilities include the measurement of directional-hemispherical re ̄ectance from 1 to 18 mm. The spectral re ̄ectance measurement is performed with an integrating sphere with an incidence angle of 88. Both relative and absolute measurements can be made. Several methods can be used to determine the absolute value of the directionalhemispherical re ̄ectance of samples. The primary method used is independent of the integrating sphere theory and the requisite assumptions associated with its use. The calibration of a standard reference material (SRM) is described. This SRM has a re ̄ectance value near 0.9 over the complete calibration range 2±18 mm. As part of the calibration procedure the spatial uniformity of the sphere throughput and the bi-directional re ̄ectance distribution function (BRDF) of the SRM material are evaluated. # 1999 Published by Elsevier Science B.V. Infrared regular re ̄ectance and transmittance instrumentation and standards at NIST

Instrumentation is described that has been constructed at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for the measurement of regular re ̄ectance and transmittance over the 2±25 mm wavelength region. This includes both specialized accessories used with Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometers and laser-based systems for high optical density transmittance measurements. The FT...

A simpli ® ed method for retrieval of ground level re ̄ ectance of targets from airborne video imagery

This paper describes an e cient method for retrieval of ground re ̄ ectance characteristics of targets from calibrated multispectral airborne video data for routine operational airborne missions. The method uses a simpli® ed atmospheric scattering model in combination with a dark-object subtraction procedure to estimate the eVect of the atmosphere in the path between the target and the sensor, ...

Comparison of near-infrared transmittance and reflectance measurements using dispersive and Fourier transform spectrophotometers

A spectrophotometer based on an integrating sphere coupled to a commercial Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) instrument has been constructed for regular spectral transmittance and re ectance measurements over the 1 m m to 18 m m wavelength region. Despite the large number of sources of error that often limit the radiometric accuracy of FTIR measurements, we demonstrate uncertainties similar to...

View angle eVects on canopy re ectance and spectral mixture analysis of coniferous forests using AVIRIS

The dependence of vegetation re ectance on sun and sensor geometry can potentially provide information on canopy properties, but also may be a source of unmodelled systematic error in single-angle remote sensing measurements. In this study, we investigated the angular variability of re ectance measurements from the NASA Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (AVIRIS), and the resultin...

The NIST EOS Thermal-Infrared Transfer Radiometer

A portable Thermal-Infrared Transfer Radiometer (TXR) has been developed for use in intercomparisons and scale verifications of sources used to calibrate thermal-infrared (TIR) channels of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA’s) Earth Observing System (EOS) flight instruments. The TXR is designed to measure the radiance temperature of large area blackbody sources in cryogen...
